...eat, drink and be married

Over Labor Day weekend my dear friends, Meghan and Ben, tied the knot at the beautiful Full Moon Resort in the Catskills. It was one of the most enjoyable weddings I've ever had the pleasure of attending.   See for yourself.

The ceremony took place under the trees, next to the creek, on a mossy patch of earth.  The light filtered through the trees in most spectacular ways.  And, as if nature wasn't enough, Meghan folded 1,000 paper cranes, strung them together and hung them from the trees.  Enchanting.  Here are my favorite pics from the ceremony.

So, what did I wear to this most enchanting affair?  I decided to keep it rustic and playful -- boots, lace, a colorful mullet dress and a big belt.  This was my first attempt wearing midi-boots with a dress, which is shocking given my country roots.  I think it worked out quite nicely.  What do you think?

p.s.  Jacket, belt and necklace belong to Jill.  Thank you for letting me raid your closet.

...keep it loose girl, keep it tight

Just wanted to show you a couple of outfits I put together over the past few weeks.

Movie night with friends.  It was hot and steamy in NYC that night.  Had to keep it cool.  Thanks for snapping this pic Audie!

I love this outfit.  It will definitely be making another appearance.  The bangles are a mix of bracelets given to me by my Grandmother, my Great Grandmother and my good friend Ginger.  (Not loving my hair in this photo.  I was WAY overdue for a haircut.)

...versatility

Whether I want to go casual for a weekend of brunching and shopping or glam it up for a night out on the town my new silk, Joe Fresh shirt has me covered.

Shorts are Kimchi Blue and were purchased at Urban Outfitters.  The bag is from Fossil and was purchased a few years ago.  The necklace came from my friend's closet.  Shoes are by Keds.

This skirt is one of my best finds.  It is Vince Camuto and I found it on sale at Macy's for $30!  The shoes are Franco Sarto and were purchased last season.  The bag is from Aldo - also several seasons old.  What can I say, I like to recycle my purchases.

...how's your weekend shaping up?

I have to admit, when the geometric shapes started to take over the design scene I wasn't a huge fan at first.  It was all a little too much for me.  But then I found this necklace at a boutique called Loveday 31 Vintage here in Astoria and I was sold.

Not long after I purchased my necklace I came across the Isleta Duvet from Anthropologie and I couldn't stop swooning.  I think my favorite thing about this duvet is the colors and that the geometric shapes aren't overdone.  Okay, I know that is two things but there are so many things I love about this duvet I couldn't pick just one.

One final item that secured my love of geometric shapes are these salt and pepper shakers from Leif.  I first saw them on Design*Sponge and unfortunately they are sold out now but they're so darn pretty I had to post them anyway.

What are some of your favorite geometric shape items?

...go bold or go home

This post is a couple of weeks late because life is hectic but this past Easter weekend my dear friend April came to visit and I took her to the High Line.  (Next to walking the Brooklyn Bridge, the High Line is my favorite free thing to do in the city.)  I was excited to have a weekday off because I typically have to wear business professional clothing on Monday's but on this particular Monday I was free to wear what I wanted.  And what I wanted to wear were my new green pants.  I wanted something fun and happy to wear around my neck and none of my necklaces were working for me so I wandered into my roommates closet and found this brilliant scarf.  Thanks Jill! And many thanks to April for snapping these pics.

...stripes are where it's at

::Warning:: Ridiculously white legs ahead

Mango opened a store a few months ago across the street from my office and I purposefully stayed out of it because I knew I'd want to purchase everything in the store.  When I entered the store for the first time a couple of weeks ago I was able to control myself but the two things I purchased have stripes.  This skirt is, by far, my favorite purchase in quite a while.  Anyone who knows me knows that I have a thing for color (and lots of it), so this skirt, with its stripes and color was a no-brainer purchase for me.

... put a little spring in your step

I've been battling a case of bronchitis for over a week now and it's taking all my energy to kick it.  But, yesterday I had to get out of the house for a bit and I decided to take a walk to the park with my trusty Nikon.  Here are a few photos from my outdoor adventure.

It's March 22 and there are already people sun bathing in the park.

I think this guy is way past needing to put a spring in his step!
